Swimsuit Round

It is extremely important to find the perfect one-piece or two-piece for the swimsuit round during a fitness competition.  However, it doesn’t end here.  There’s more to this portion of the competition than stunning swimwear.  To wow the audience and get the nods of the judges, you must prepare well prior to joining the fitness competition.

During this round, you are expected to match your swimsuit with a pair of high-heeled shoes.  Your stance and physique will be complemented by your entire outfit.  While it seems that you are wearing very small pieces of garments during the contest, it is important to note that at least 50 percent of the gluteus maximus muscle should be covered.  Likewise, G-strings or thongs are definitely a no-no.

Unlike in bodybuilding competitions, muscle size is given less weight.  What’s important is that you have well-toned muscles with clear separations between muscle groups.

What you need to show the judges

The judges will watch out for your poise and presence once you come up the stage and walk toward your audience.  Your overall condition and appearance are also part of the criteria.  Therefore, aside from polishing your poses and turns, you need to work out on your complexion, hair, and smile–in short, your overall appearance.

Some tips

Proceedings in this round may vary depending on the organizers, but generally, competitors will be asked to make quarter-turns and half-turns.  This is your chance to flaunt your perfectly fit body shape, tone, and symmetry.  While doing your turns, you have to exude poise and gracefulness.  You need to strike a good balance between being athletic and feminine.  Bear in mind that this is not a bodybuilding competition.  Brawny girls are at a disadvantaged position.

Depending on the flow of the competition, you may be judged individually and in group comparisons.  Therefore, you must stand out from the rest of the other female contestants who are also eyeing that fitness trophy.  One trick is too choose an eye-catching outfit.  More importantly, you need to prepare yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally to outshine them all.

Different fitness contests have different rules, set of judges, and even audience types.  You must be well-informed about the competition you are getting yourself into.  Familiarize yourself with rules such as what to and what not to wear.  Make sure you qualify for the requirements they set for the participants.  For instance, there might be weight and height limits and the need for drug tests.  Prepare for all the rounds in the contest, including the interview round.  As early as possible, look for outfits that will give you the competitive edge.  Pick a swimsuit that will flatter you.  Match it to your complexion and other physical features.  Comfort is of primary importance too.
